Artificial Eyes

A custom artificial eye is used to replace an eye that has been surgically removed as a result of damage or disease. The restoration of your physical appearance may be the most satisfying outcome of this procedure. It is important to recognize, however, that a prosthetic eye is medically necessary and functions in several significant ways beyond the outward appearance. Our artificial eyes help:

  • Prevent remaining soft tissue from collapsing
  • Prevent eyelids and lashes from turning in
  • Facilitate the proper circulation of tears so they can continue to serve their function of cleaning and lubricating the socket and lids

Each eye we make is individually fabricated to fit the exact size and shape of your eye socket. Our modified impression method accounts for the changing shape of the eye socket during different directions of gaze and opening. This process is one of the most important aspects of fitting at Erickson’s Eyes. It ensures the comfort of each prosthetic eye and enables natural motion without irritating the surrounding tissue.
